Find Square of 96

Step 1: Find the surplus in the number as compared to the base. For 96 the nearest base is 100 so the deficit is 4 or the surplus is -4

Add the surplus to the number

Result 1 = 96 + (-4) = 92

Step 2: Now find the square of the surplus that is -4. Square of -4 is 16

Result 2 = 16

As the base has two zeros so two digits will be prefixed in the answer
